Cytoplan Zinc & Copper, Food State Zinc is combined with copper to prevent a possible risk of copper deficiency during long-term usage. Zinc and copper compete for the same absorption sites and an excess of zinc can ultimately cause a copper deficiency. Each tablet contains 15mg Zinc and 1mg copper. Food State Zinc is presented to the body complete with all the amino acids and phyto -utrients which aid its absorption, transport and utilisation. Hence it has
optimal bio-efficiency.
Zinc has a variety of functions. It is related to the normal absorption and action of vitamins, especially the B complex. It is a constituent of more than 2,000 enzymes involved in digestion and metabolism. Some of the enzymes are involved in bone metabolism, alcohol detoxification, protein digestion and RNA synthesis. Zinc is a component of insulin and is part of the enzyme that is needed to break down alcohol. It is essential in the synthesis of DNA, the master substance of life that carries all inherited traits and directs the activity of each cell.
Zinc is readily absorbed in the upper and small intestine. The body only absorbs as much as it needs at a time. The rest is unabsorbed and about 6mg is lost daily.
The largest store of zinc occurs in the liver, pancreas, kidney, bones and voluntary muscles. A high intake of calcium and phytic acid, found in certain grains, may prevent absorption of zinc.
