The body’s detoxification system has 2 phases to process the chemicals one is exposed to each day:
Firstly, when these chemicals enter the body, Phase 1 detoxifying enzymes begin to process them into metabolites which may be potentially harmful. Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance in the production of free radicals and your body’s ability to detoxify their harmful effects by neutralizing them with antioxidants. Free radicals, which can damage DNA, proteins and lipids, are by products of your normal metabolism and can also be derived from certain environmental toxins.
